The beautiful gardens of Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar will once again play host to the summer edition of the Malta Artisan Market being held next weekend.
Just as Maltese language, culture and food have been largely influenced by different people who at some stage occupied the islands, so too have Malta’s arts and crafts. This has left the archipelago with a legacy of traditional arts, crafts and artisan foods, including, among others, filigree jewellery, lacemaking, weaving and honey. In turn, these today influence the contemporary artisan products that are on offer at the market.
While several souvenir shops also stock items produced in other countries, the Malta Artisan Market observes a strict policy whereby only local artisans producing in Malta can participate. The visitor can meet the artisans in person at their stalls and discuss their work, thereby knowing they are buying an authentic Malta-produced artisan product.
Attendees can browse through an original array of garden ornaments, jewellery, hand-sewn goods, woodworks, concrete furniture, handmade chocolate, candles, food delicacies and much more in the balmy evening atmosphere of the magical Palazzo.
