The Funky Monkey, Gżira’s Boċċi Club revitalised, is hosting a film night under the stars featuring the cult classic Pulp Fiction this coming Monday (a public holiday). Quentin Tarantino’s neo-noir masterpiece centres around two Mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster’s wife and a pair of diner bandits whose lives intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. The film stars a virtual pantheon of actors, including John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth and Bruce Willis, to name a few. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including for best original screenplay which it won. It has an 8.9/10 IMDb rating, and a score of 94 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and also Metacritic. This free event sees two outdoor projected screens, one on the front terrace and the other on the back one, together with another two big screens inside. The screening kicks off at 9pm and patrons are advised that admittance will be on a first-come first-served basis. Refreshments prepared by the Funky Monkey Kitchen include freshly made popcorn, nachos and their signature burgers and falafels. The Funky Monkey is located on Manoel Island, Gżira.
