CineXjenza – science in film

A film screening followed by a debate on astrophysics and human cloning is being organised tomorrow by Spazju Kreattiv. Duncan Jones’s film debut Moon was well received by critics upon its release in 2009. The film was also co-written by Jones, son of the late David Bowie. Sam Rockwell’s performance as the sole human character received particular attention with The Guardian stating that “Rockwell is very good… and it is nice to see a major role for a distinctive and engaging performer.” Rockwell plays Sam Bell, a man who experiences a personal crisis as he nears the end of a three-year solitary period working on the moon, with his only companion a computer known as Gerty. With no direct communication between the station and Earth, and only Gerty to tend to his daily needs, Sam begins to hallucinate.  After getting into an accident, he discovers something that will make him attempt to get back to Earth alone while questioning his own sanity.
