Archbishop Charles Scicluna paid a pastoral visit to the National Sport School in Pembroke, a co-educational school for students who have a high potential for development in their chosen field of sport.
This was another memorable event for students and teaching staff at Malta’s only dedicated national centre of excellence for sports. After a warm welcome by the head of school, George Micallef, Mgr Scicluna celebrated Mass in the new sports hall. He was then presented with a portrait specially made by the art teacher, Clive Gerada.
This was followed by a tour of the school where he met some of the teachers and students during their lessons. Here he was given a taste of Macbeth and some IT skills.
His visit ensued with an interaction with students and teachers where several issues were discussed in an informal setting. The Archbishop had nothing but words of praise for these student-athletes, who not only work hard academically, but also do their utmost to excel in their respective sports disciplines.
