Eleven young dancers from Paul Curmi Dance Studio in Fgura participated in an intensive summer school programme at Kate Simmons Dance School in Warrington, UK.
The eight-day programme gave the students the opportunity to gain further technique and skills in a variety of dance, which included classical ballet, modern jazz, hip-hop, classical Spanish, flamenco, character and contemporary dance. The programme also gave them the opportunity to dance with students coming from other parts of the world, including Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, South Africa, Belgium, France, Norway, Brazil and the UK.
The Maltese dancers were Francesca Coleiro, Federica Coleiro, Irge Vidal Curmi, Mariah Farrugia, Kylie Farrugia, Maria Ellul, Maria Aquilina, Bernice Zarb, Kelember Tabone, Eva Mallia Consigllo and Hannah Borg.
The visit helped them appreciate further the art of dance and motivated them for further knowledge and training. Artistic director and dance teacher Eldridge Saliba Curmi accompanied the students.
