Opera v pop concert in Gozo

Soprano Pamela Agius Cibrano (New York), bass Noel Galea (Gozo) and pop singer Francesco Joseph Nicodeme (Italy) feature in the ninth edition of Opera vs Pop under the Stars, together with the Gozo Youth Orchestra under the direction of Mro Joseph Grech. The concert, which takes place on Monday in the courtyard of the Ministry of Gozo in Victoria, is hosted by Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo and US Ambassador Kathleen Hill. The concert starts at 8.30pm The first part of the programme will consist of operatic and operetta pieces by Bellini, Verdi, Mascagni, Mozart, Lehar and Leoncavallo, among others. This will be followed by an array of pop arrangements from works by Lloyd Webber, Gershwin, Mancini, Morricone and Suppé. Attendance is strictly by reservation. Tickets cost €15, with VIP seating costing €25 – this includes a pre-concert cocktail reception and guaranteed seating in the first four rows. Patrons are requested to be seated by 8.15pm.
