Malta participates in European Week of Sport

The European Week of Sport is an initiative led by the European Commission to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. 2016 will mark its second edition, continuing to generate new activities while building on already existing successful ones. The overarching campaign theme remains #BeActive, encouraging everyone to be active during the Week but also to keep it up all year long. It also aims to promote participation in sport and physical activity regardless of age, background or fitness level, bringing together individuals, public authorities, the sport movement, civil society organisations and the private sector. The 2016 European Week of Sport will continue to be structured around focused areas, being: the education environment, the workplace, outdoors, sport clubs and fitness centres. This year, Malta’s week kicks off on September 10, which is also when the official opening to this pan-European initiative will take place in Košice, Slovakia. As part of the activities being organised, SportMalta is coordinating three promenade walks to promote walking as a path to a healthy lifestyle.
