A tribute act is usually the sole domain of pop stars and rock bands. However, with the explosion in popularity of dance music in recent years, a steady trickle of dance music tribute acts has started to hit the scene.
Coming to Malta for a one-off event are Daft as Punk, the tribute band of world-famous French duo Daft Punk. Made up of Dubliners Eugene and James, they initially started performing for local crowds at minor events but quickly rose to stardom. Their nights became so popular that they soon began gigging in Scotland and have just wrapped up a UK tour, with a European tour to come this summer.
This up-and-coming duo is known for their live visual stylisation and complete authenticity in both ornate helmets and gloves as well as in the style of performance on stage. With the last Daft Punk concert held in 2007, a return to the global stage is highly improbable making Daft as Punk as close to the real thing as robotically possible.
Daft as Punk will be performing in Malta for the first time ever this Saturday, August 27 at Aria Complex in San Ġwann. Partygoers can expect to hear a mix of well-known hits including Get Lucky, Around the World, One More Time, Harder...
