In someone else’s shoes for a day

CareMalta, operator of nine homes for the elderly, held a role change day event during which management took on various roles to experience and appreciate everyone’s position within the company. CareMalta’s CEO Natalie Briffa Farrugia, facility managers and top management took on this challenge with a smile and spent the day carrying out different duties. Mrs Briffa Farrugia  said role change day at CareMalta was one of the best days on its calendar of events. It was an opportunity for the management team to get a hands-on experience at various levels. It offered a chance to be with the people, feel their emotions, carry a part of their burden and treasure special moments. James Sciriha, CareMalta’s director of finance, spent the day working as a kitchen assistant at Casa San Paolo. He said: “In these circumstances you are exposed to what employees go through daily, from challenges to positive aspects of their jobs. I happened to know the cook, so this made it easier. You also get exposure to what actually happens in all departments.” The event turned out to be a huge success.
