The second night of the Triq Cinemoon Festival this coming Thursday focuses on the theme of driving.
This unusual festival, in its fourth year, asks its prospective audience to pick the films that are screened with the general theme this summer being In Motion.
The films proposed for this week are: The Trip to Italy (2014), a film by renowned UK director Michael Winterbottom, starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon; A Perfect Day by Fernando León de Aranoa from Spain, selected for screening in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and starring Benicio del Toro and Tim Robbins; and a US entry from the same year, Cop Car by Jon Watts, director of the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The film obtaining the most votes will be shown on Thursday in the evocative surroundings of Valletta’s magical night-time streets. The venue is just outside Cafe Society in St John’s Street, a cozy street leading down to the Grand Harbour. The screen is set up on the stepped section with the audience viewing the film seated on the stairs under the moonlight.
