Chizil fusion trio at University festival tonight

Evenings on Campus is back until Tuesday with an eclectic mix of events. Now in its 24th edition, Evenings on Campus was one of the very first festivals in Malta that started to give space to different forms of contemporary culture through its representations of visual and performing arts. Tonight sees fusion trio Chizil taking to the stage. Formed in the summer of 2015, this group fuses a synthesis of old and new, boasting an eclectic array of sounds and influences. Jes Psaila on guitar is a household name in the local jazz scene. He has performed with many local as well as foreign artists and brings bags of experience to the mix. Francesco “Ċikku” Frendo on the electric bass has become a prominent figure locally. He has formed avant-garde musical projects with other local talents and is keen to push the traditional role of the low-end to its limits, with a fresh approach of sounds and basslines. William Smith on drums is the youngest of the trio and is establishing himself as one of Malta’s premium young talents.
