A piece of work combining original music, poetry and videography looks at the feelings of those who are left behind when loved ones suddenly vanish. Li Bqajna (We who are left) is primarily inspired by the fictional story portrayed in the popular American TV series The Leftovers which deals with the aftermath of the unexplained disappearance of two per cent of the world population on those left behind. Put together by Mariella Cassar-Cordina, Li Bqajna is her own attempt at artistically and philosophically questioning the phenomena of grief, sorrow and emptiness. The re-enactment forms a conceptual framework which relates to the daily struggles as portrayed in the original TV series. Li Bqajna comprises a live voice and dance performance of original music by Cassar-Cordina with narration, pre-recorded sound and a video component set by artist Carmen Aquilina. It also features the voices of The New Victorians, dance by Eleonora Fae, lyrics by John Bonello, and philosophical reflection by Claire Scicluna. ■ Li Bqajna is being staged tonight at Splendid on Strait Street in Valletta at 7pm and 8.30pm. Entrance is free. The event is being organised by the Strada Stretta Concept...
